Lots and Lots Of Editing

Check out the word count meter on the left side.  Grimstoke's Curse was over 74,000 this morning.  Major edits.  I finally followed through on a threat to myself and cut a major plotline.  I guess I'll use it in the sequel.  If I can get this thing under 60,000 maybe it won't be so quickly rejected, which is, I suspect, what happened the first time around.  Although I did get a few requests, I'm hoping this leads to an offer.

Cutting is so liberating! What is a GarbaGemon? I'm intrigued.

Kill them darlings. You won't regret it. Just don't kill them, kill them. Cut and paste somewhere else.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I cut more today. I'm still mourning those 9800 words and trying to find a way to incorporate that plotline back into the story.

Kara - The GarbaGemon is a mythical sea monster. It's well known around San Iguana and the surrounding islands that if you say the creature's name aloud he'll show up to eat you. Alas, much of this stems from the legend of Blue Blood Beardsley, who upon being plucked from the sea and covered in burns, uttered his dying words, "Inside the Devil's Maelstrom, the GarbaGemon guards the Three Lock Box." It's unknown if anyone else has ever actually encountered the GarbaGemon.

Great job! I know it's hard to cut the fat (it tastes so darn good) but when you do, it can be so liberating!

A GarbaGemon sounds right up my alley.
